Vanilla is such a classic scent, dating back to pioneer days in the United States. During the settling period of the Old West, straight vanilla extract was coveted not only for cooking, but also as a perfume. A woman would dab a little on her neck before going out socializing.
Fraiche founder Johnan Ratliff wanted to create healthy bars of soap without the harsh chemicals that have confronted people’s skin for so long. She spent thousands of dollars on organic products to break them down into their natural elements, bought books, attended classes, and consulted experts across the country in order to cultivate her “hobby” into something sustainable and real.
On July 4, 2005 the first batch of soaps were created and now many of Johnan’s friends and family work side-by-side with her to sculpt and package by hand these small works of art.
